Painted Horse
|
|
The Painted Horse
singers come from Cree, Blood, Blackfoot, Peigan and Tsuii Tina Nations.
Most started singing with their grandfathers, fathers and other respected
singers at very young ages. The Painted Horse singers joined together
for the love of Pow-wow. The name Painted Horse was chosen because of
the war pony and also because the horse trot sounds like the music.
Their singing
and drumming has been heard across Canada and the USA where they have
sung in contests as well as hosting various pow-wows. In 1995 they
placed in the top 10 in the contemporary category at the world championships
in Connecticut.
